RETIREMENT AGE OF MINISTERS IN POLITICS

Hi Friends, I am grateful to few of my friends who criticize my views on the topics because it gives me immense pleasure to put forward my view more convincingly. Also, thank you to all my friends who appreciated my views on the topics. I know it took long time to present this article in relation to my other four articles which were presented in less than two months. I had few other obligations on my head which were to be completed; hence I was not able to spare time. However, I promise to present many more articles from now onwards.

With respect to my previous article, “Petrol / Diesel Bizzare”, I would like to update you that Government will make their call on privatizing the rates of the petrol. And please this is not at all because of my blogs, it’s just for your knowledge. Also with respect to my article, “Quota’s System”, I would like to inform you that after the acceptance of Women’s Quota in Legislative, few of the politician are asking for Sub-Quota’s (i.e. Quota in Quota) for SC/ST, BCT, etc. with respect to Women’s Quota. However, the hilarious part of this information is that the politicians who are demanding for Sub-Quota are none other than those people who initially opposed the Women’s Quota in the Legislative. What a contradiction of views by those politician or May be these all acts are for increasing their Vote Bank for the proposed Election…??? Friends, these updations are not vague; I have proof for the same.

Ok.... Friends, now back to this article, this time I would like put forward my one of the views in relation to politics, i.e., Retirement Age of Ministers in Politics. Friends we all know that general retirement age in India is 65 years. For example, the retirement age for Government Job of 65 years. Also, under the Income Tax Act, 1961, the person above 65 years is treated as Senior citizen, whom additional benefits are given with respect to tax payment. But, my friends have you ever thought about the retirement age in case of ministry? Mr. L. K. Advani whose age is 82 years, still wants to become Prime Minister of India. Also, Mr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, although, he proved himself as capable and good Prime Minister, is in his 70’s with respect to age (Age – 74 years). Another example is Mr. Karunanidhi, whose age is 85 years; he is still Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

I am not denying that they are not good in their job. They are very good players of their game and have done lot of good things for the development of India and their respective States. “India is a democratic country and Each and Every Person in India has a right to participate in the development of the country”, we are been taught since our school days. I am not restricting the rights of senior citizen from participation in development of the country. I am of the view that their role in development of India should bit different. They should guide Young players by sharing their experience, which will help in many ways. One of the biggest advantages will be that they will produce new generation of politics.

But don’t you think that it makes lot of sense that at least there should be Bar of Limitation with respect to age in the Legislative for the Minister. The person who is in 80’s requires more medical attention than that is required in normal life of the human. Ya, always there are few exceptional cases. Also in certain cases they are not allowed to travel, which the job of ministers requires a lot. How could you expect that person would run whole India or respective State with respect to Economy, Social, Political and other fronts, where there is day to day requirement with respect to different activities in ministry? I feel this is the biggest question to be answered by the ministers.

I know some of the questions and reasoning could be vague. But at the end, I am just producing my views to you all. So that at least you can help me out to make proper reasoning. And most importantly, it will help you to make your stand clear, for the subject matter of the blog.

Cheers,

INDIAN NATIONAL FLAG

Hi Friends, after an overwhelming response of my previous three articles, it’s my pleasure to be back with another article. This time, I would like to spread little bit of social awareness. As far as response towards my previous articles is concerned, I am pleased to hear that many of you discussed your views on the topics. I am also highly obliged by some of you, who appreciated my writing skill. Still I consider myself as an amateur writer and I want you, my friends to help me out to improve it. However, always remember my priority would always be your views on the topic.

Now, let’s get back to these article, I am producing in front of you. Recently, we all celebrated Republic Day and many of us hoisted Indian Flag in our respective places as a part of celebration. I also celebrate the national occasion with my hostel mates in our hostel. In fact, it was the first function organized and celebrated in our hostel by the students and I must say it rocked. When the function was over, I thought about the flag we hoisted, what should be done about the flag? I tried to discuss with some of my friends in the hostel but still it made me think what are the different ways, a flag can be displayed, handled or disposed off as per our Constitution laid down in India. So to find out my answer, I searched out a lot and found very interesting and various facts of our flag, which, may be most of us don’t know?

NATIONAL FLAG
National flag of India, the Tiranga is the significance of the nationality and unity. The national flag of India was designed by Mr. Pingali Venkayya. It shows our freedom over British rule. It also signifies the hopes and aspirations of the people of India. The national flag of India was adopted in 22nd July 1947 by the India's Constituent Assembly. The size of India flag size is 2:3 in ratio with three colors. The motive of the national flag of India is to bring the whole country together.

As usual, I am starting with my first question;

Do you know Mr. Pingali Venkayya?
We feel proud when we fly the Tiranga, but how many people knows about Mr. Pingali Venkayya. I guess none of us. Generally, we know which actor has worked in the latest movie or who scored century in the cricket match. But we don’t know who has contributed in developing India till date. I am not pointing out anyone of my friends, but I am talking about the young generation of our nation including all of us.

Mr. Pingali Venkayya is the man who has given us the national flag of India. He was born in 2nd August 1876 in Hanumantharayudu and Venkataratnamma at Bhatlapennumaru in the Divi Taluka in Krishna district.

Mr. Pingali was the great lover of our country and, he impresses his thinking through the national flag. It has been found that the Mr. Pingali had collected thirty flags from different nation for designing the India flag; this shows the great effort of Mr. Pingali. Thanks and salute to Mr. Pingali, who designed the Tiranga.

MEANING OF THE INDIA NATIONAL FLAG
India Flag is not only a symbol of freedom for we peoples, but it is also a symbol of freedom for all over the world. The tricolor India flag is not only a combination of three colors, but also a combination of culture, significance of unity, and shows the tradition of India.

Friends, it’s my pleasure to present you the specific meaning of the flag's color and chakra. They represent the complete India.

The meaning of saffron color is the power and unity for serve the society. The white color shows truth and simplicity of country. And the green color tells culture and charms of the nation. And most importantly, the chakra shows to working power and energy of the people. The chakra also intends to show that there is life in movement and death in stagnation.

CERTAIN LAW'S FOR THE FLAG
There are certain laws to use of national flag such as the flag should be treated with "dignity, loyalty and respect". According to the Flag Act 1950, the flag should never touch earth and water. It should not be used as a general purpose cloth, cornerstone etc.

Until 2005, it was stipulated the flag could not be used in clothing, uniform or costume. But in 2005, the Government of India amended the code, allowing the use of flag as clothing and uniform. It however cannot be used as clothing below the waist or as undergarments. It is also prohibited to decorate the national flag and other symbols onto pillowcases or neckerchiefs.

The National Flag may be hoisted in educational institutions to inspire respect for the Flag. An oath of allegiance, i.e, loyalty has been included in the flag hoisting in schools. A member of public, a private organization or an educational institution may hoist/display the National Flag on all days and occasions, ceremonial or otherwise consistent with the dignity and honour of the National Flag.

Apart from non-statutory instructions issued by the Government from time to time, display of the National Flag is governed by the provisions of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 (No. 12 of 1950) and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 (No. 69 of 1971). One of the significant provision related to the national flag is the Flag Code of India

The Flag Code of India was introduced is the year 2002. The Flag Code of India, 2002 is an attempt to bring together all such laws, conventions, practices and instructions for the guidance and benefit of all concerned. This Code took effect from 26th January 2002 and superseded the 'Flag Code-India’s as it existed. As per the provisions of the Flag Code of India, 2002, there are no restriction on the display of the National Flag by members of general public, private organizations, educational institutions, etc., except to the extent provided in the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act, 1950 and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and any other law enacted on the subject.

Friends, another interesting fact, which I would like to present in front of you is that we all know about our National Flag being hoisted in Red Fort, Delhi during Independence Day and Republic Day. But, did you know that the India Flag is to be hosted at Red Fort by the Prime Minister of India on Independence Day and by President of India at Republic Day. Now, that’s little bit interesting, and to be frank enough, even I didn’t knew this interesting little fact before!!!

INDIA NATIONAL FLAG - HANDLING OF THE INDIA FLAG
There are a number of traditional rules of respect of handling or displaying the flag. For example, when out in the open, the flag should always be hoisted at sunrise, and lowered at sunset, irrespective of the weather conditions. The flag may be also flown on a public building at night under special circumstances.

The flag should never be depicted, displayed or flown upside down. It is also insulting to display the flag in a frayed or dirty state. The same rule applies to the flagpoles and halyards used to hoist the flag, which should always be in a proper state of maintenance.

CORRECT DISPLAY OF INDIA FLAG
There are different rules in our constitution as well as in the Flag Code of India, 2002, stipulating the ways of displaying our very own National Flag. I would like to describe few of them in front of you, such as;

When it is displayed in a straight line with flags of other countries, the National Flag shall be on the extreme right; i.e. if an observer were to stand in the center of the row of the flags facing the audience, the National Flag should be to his extreme right. The position is illustrated in the diagram below:-

When the National Flag is displayed against a wall with another flag from crossed staffs, the National Flag shall be on the right i.e. the Flag’s own right, and its staff shall be in front of the staff of the other flag. The position is illustrated in the diagram below:-

INDIA NATIONAL FLAG - DISPOSAL
When no longer in a fit condition to be used, a flag should be disposed of in a dignified manner, preferably by burning or ground burial.

At last, I would like to inform other certain facts which every Indian Youth should know. I am talking about our various National Symbols of India, viz,

National FLAG - TIRANGA
National LANGUAGE - HINDI
National ANTHEM - JANA-GANA-MANA
National SONG - VANDE MATRAM
National EMBLEM - SATYAMEV JAYATE
National ANIMAL - TIGER
National BIRD - PEACOCK
National FRUIT - MANGO
National FLOWER - LOTUS
National TREE - BANYAN

The main reasoning of this article is to revolunise the Indian Youth and to create awareness among the youth. And, of course, I am promise you many more of this kind is in the pipeline….

Cheers,

PETROL / DIESEL BIZZARE

Hey Friends, I am back with another social and political issue relating to Prices of Petrol / Diesel. This is one of the thoughts which mysteriously drill my mind deep on hearing about rates of Petrol / Diesel being increased or decreased.

From political point of view, Private Key Players such as Reliance, Essar Oil in the Oil Sector proposed to the Government regarding decontrolling of prices of Petrol & Diesel resulting into further hike in rate of Petrol by Rs. 4.72/- per litre and in the rate of Diesel by Rs. 1.51/- per litre or to provide Subsidy to Private Players also. Even, the committee formed under the Leadership of Parekh, and other two committees formed under the leadership of well-known political personalities recommended decontrolling of prices of Petrol / Diesel.

Generally, everybody is of the view that the government is emptying the pocket of the peoples of the nation. But, I have a question for all of you, who use petrol / diesel in one or other way in their daily routine. And the question is;

Does variation of petrol / diesel rates by the government affects the mind of the people?

Yes, you are correct that the variation in Petrol / Diesel Rates does affect the people but my question is, Does it affects the mind of the people. For my point of view, it does not affect the mind of the peoples, whether the rates are increased or decreased. The common people, i.e., Middle Class & Low Class people, generally uses public transport and High class people will not be considering any variations for their use. I know what I am trying to prove is not fully correct. But this is where I am taken aback seeing cars running down the road where only one or maximum two persons are sitting, whether there is oscillation in rate or not of the Petrol / Diesel rates.

I am also of the view that it does affect all the class of people. It really affects each and every person but the problem lies in the thinking pattern of most of the people. Most of us, when we hear of increase in price, our first reaction will be, “Oh my God, where will it stop?” But in less than a week time, we will forget the variation and will start out normal life. As usual, I would like to quote a real life example which I encounter each and every day of my life of useless consumption of such a valuable resource;

When the prices of the Petrol were increased to Rs. 45/- (approximately) from Rs. 42/-, there was great agitation. During that time, I was at my native place, Morbi, preparing for my C.A. Final exam. By and large in the evening, youth of the town used to roam around on the bike / car. They used to roam around with their friends, sometimes follow girls to impress them. Even I was not the exception, but the problem with me was, I had no bike. But I used to consider it as my good luck. In the evening, I used to go for a walk; taking little bit time out from the studies. As far as roaming around is concerned, there was no slowing down. It remained same as it was before. Even right now, when the price of Petrol is even higher, the situation remains the same. I can pen down the above mentioned facts confidently because it’s a small town and almost everybody know each other.

Another instance which I encounter daily is of cars travelling on the road. Few days back I was going back to my hostel after completing my office work. I was about reach my hostel but before that I had to cross one signal. When I reached at that particular signal, it signaled red. During that time, I was surprised to check that there were 21 cars waiting for crossing the signal out of which, in 12 cars, there was only one man in the car, i.e., driver, nobody else. And in other 7 cars, there were only two persons travelling to their destination. Just analyze how much petrol / diesel is been wasted. They could have used public transport.

Also, another Global instance of Petrol / Diesel ill-consumption is of Formula-One Race. The new season of Formula One is about to kick off. Every year, more than 10 races are held in different parts of the world, where manufacturers of the Cars try to prove their supremacy over other from speed point of view. The fuel used in such cars is not the usual one which we use in our day to day life, but it is the fuel which is used in Air plane. This fuel is highly expensive. I lose my mind thinking that the car manufacturers of the world, just in order to prove their machine is faster than others; destroy so much of natural resources. It is not at all required. Remember, I am just talking about useless consumption of this resource and not of any environmental hazards such as pollution. Some of the high ranked personalities are going crazy on bringing Formula-One into India, but is it necessary. Will it help us out except from economic point of view? If your answer is affirmative, I will be the first person to support you.

These are the certain real-life instances which I bumped into everyday, from which I am of the conclusion that it doesn’t affect the thinking pattern of the people, whether it is youth or any professional or any industries. And those who are affected have already started to travel in the public transport. Similarly, you may also come across so many such instances in your day to day life.

Hence, I would not at all blame government for increasing the price of the Petrol / Diesel. Even the government provides subsidy to the public sector companies before hiking the prices of the said resource so as to provide the valuable resources at a low rate. Sometimes, when I see some freaks emptying tanks just for their fun, I feel that the government should not even give Subsidy on it.

So, I request you to please save one of the natural resources of the country as well as world, and use it tactfully and skillfully.

Cheers,
Niraj M. Pandit

DONATION FOR EDUCATION OF POOR CHILDREN

Hi Friends, as per my resolution, I am here again to share one more thought which comes across in my mind every time, When I hear from person donating money for Education of poor children or seeing someone donating money.

We come across many charitable trust or other institutes, which provides education to poor and needy children. And we also see many big shots donating lakhs of rupees in the charitable institutes. It is a great and generous step by those big shots and even common man, who donates money for such a great cause. Even our government and NGO’s are taking numerous steps to provide education to poor children’s. Nowadays, even the corporate houses are also helping directly or indirectly in promoting education to poor student. I would even like to quote an example of indirect promotion by corporate houses for poor student’s education program.

Currently, I am attending classes in the college for my Law degree, where one of the NGO came to the college to promote the education for poor children. Every year, the said NGO recruits aspiring students for the job of teacher, who can provide education to the poor children. The tenure of such job is 2 years. The student will also be paid for such tenure. They also described that they have a facility with the companies that in case the student has been selected in the company (Corporate House), they would reserve job position of the student for the aforesaid tenure, which is nothing but an indirect promotion for such a great cause.

The first thought on this topic came across in my mind during my childhood days when I was in school. Basically I am from small town called Morbi, which is famous for the manufacturing of Quartz and Textiles. I was in 9th standard and was practicing with my team for Annual Sports Week. Hence, we decided to practice for few events at 5 p.m. in the evening at school, when play ground is empty. As per our decision, we all reached in the evening and started our practice. Suddenly at 5.45 p.m., many small children who reside in the nearby area entered into the school premises. We were astonished and started to scold them to go away from the school premises. Few of them also started crying; suddenly out of the blue one of our teacher, Ms. Jayshree Teacher, came over there. We were speechless and confused. She scolded us on making her students cry. After few days, it came to our knowledge that Jayshree Teacher takes Evening school for poor students residing in the nearby area free of cost. Being small boy, I took that instant lightly and didn’t understood the meaning of such school in the evening and that too free of cost. But now I understood the main reasoning of such a school.

I salute all human beings who directly or indirectly help for such a social cause. But my view on this topic is slightly different from the above mentioned ways.

I believe that even though we are donating money in the charitable institute, we should try to accommodate one or two poor children education personally from our end. We should personally keep an eye on one or poor children education as parents, who generally does for their own children. We should guide and finance the child which will help in establishing him / her. It is not wrong to help poor children to help his / her future, which would indirectly help our own nation to build up. It will also help in increasing the literacy rate of our beloved nation.

From my point of view, all I can foresight is advantages on performing the above mentioned task. Of course, it’s not easy, but “Even Rome was not built in a day”. We should get united in building up the nation. I cannot see any disadvantage in my idea, but yes one thought comes in my mind being a Chartered Accountant student.

In certain cases, some person donates the amount to charitable institute so as to get deduction from Income resulting into saving of tax. But friends, I feel some act should be performed without any personal intention. It is totally for a social cause.

I am not scripting this article for the sake of journalism. I truly believe in it and I am all set to act on it as soon as I start earning good amount of money. We and some of my friends also performed a skit on this topic during our GMCS Course (one of the course in Chartered Accountant Profession).

I would like to conclude with a simple phrase that “It is important to help our self in building our future, but simultaneously think of building our beloved nation.”
Hope you all will spread the message and also try to act on it. If even one person act on it, than I am succeeded in penning down this article.

Cheers,
Niraj M. Pandit

QUOTA’s IN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM

Hi Friends, from last few years, I had an intention to write blogs on Political and Social cause. I postponed it consistently being lethargic. However, I have passed final resolution in 2010 for blogging my views. I hope everyone will enjoy it and will share your own views in front of the world.

Recently, you would have come across the news of increasing the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes Quota in the IIM’s and also Educational System. Every day, it was in the Headlines for recording views of political personalities on the subject. Since, India is a democratic country; everybody has a fundamental right of Freedom of Speech. Our Constitution stipulates the right to the citizen of India to put their personal views without being biased. But in the present scenario, I can assure you that the common man will adjust with the all the nuisance or things they come across. The common man feels comfortable to adjust with the situation then to agitate against the wrong doings. Please, don’t misunderstand that I am totally against the Quota system. As you will go further in the article, you will understand my view on Quota’s system.

In earlier year of Independence, the concept of Quota was initiated by our respected Political Leaders of that time with a basic aim of upgrading the living standard of the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe. Such classes of people were considered as a Backward Class people. Hence, the concept of Quota was included with a good intention of helping them, as the situation prevailing during that time was worse. I would again like to quote that the concept of Quota was included with a good intention.

However, the current situation prevailing in the society is similar to the situation prevailing during the era of Independence. It is very painful to see that such classes of people have not been upgraded till now. Also, they are of the view to increase the quotas’ in all the system of the society as well as educational system. Recently, there was an agitation of including quotas’ in the IIM’s. Don’t you think so that it can be concluded from the recent agitation that in current scenario instead of upgrading their living standard, they are further downgraded.

Is these really correct or ‘the concept of Quota’ is been exploited?

I would not like to comment on the above question as it differs from person to person. I am not provoking the groupism of Upper Class people and Lower Class people. I am of simple thinking that after 60 years of Independence; at least the concept of Quota should not be included in the Education System.

I am of the view that the Goddess of Knowledge has given equal memory power to all the human beings, whether it is India or USA, or whether it is Gujarat, Maharashtra, Bihar or any other part of our land. Memory Power should be exploited more instead of exploiting Quota Concept. The Memory power will increase by exploiting more and more of it. It won’t decrease. I am not producing any facts of any kind in front of you. But to make my point clear, I would like to quote a real life example which I experienced during my College days. Yes, you are correct in thinking about admissions of Colleges.

I have done my graduation from one of the leading College. Although, I took my admission over there in Second Year of my Bachelor of Commerce Degree, I saw the merit list of admission of First Year which displayed the Name of the Student who got admission in the college and Name of Students who are in waiting list. As we all know, the criteria of admission in the colleges in based on Percentage scored in H.S.C. (10+2 Standard). I was shocked to see that last merit list of General Quota cut-off percentages was approximately 72%; however the cut-off percentage of Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe and Quota was approximately 45%.

Don’t you think so that the student who scored 71% or didn’t make it due to shortfall of one or two marks would be regretting himself? And the Quota student, who got just below 50%, got the admission. Although nowadays, new reputed colleges are opening in different parts of India, still the above question remains the same. But, the student of my character, who wants the admission in the particular college, would feel sad and even curse himself for not scoring one or two marks more for making it into the admission merit list of the college.

This is a very small example relating to the effect of Quota system in common man’s life. May be we all are victim of these Quota system in one or other way, which we would have not come across in day to day life.

I would like to conclude, with my simple view that the Quota system either should not be there in the Education System or should be restricted more so that a good student gets do not suffer in his / her career.

I hope you will provide your views on my above article.

Disclaimer:
This article is not written for provoking any groupism in any way in the society. It’s strictly the author’s view which would differ from person to person. I put across my views under the Right of Freedom of Speech stipulated in Article 19 of the Constitution of India.
